What is a SSCS Account?
-
The Social Sciences Division maintains several servers: Athens, Corinth and Cronus. Each of these servers are designed to provided certain services for their respective departments.
- Athens - Economics

- Cronus - Psychology

An account on one of these systems entitles you to access the services of that system. Generally these services entail storing files and executing applications on the servers.

Who is eligible for an account?
-
To receive an Account you must have a valid CNetID (Harper account) and you must have an affiliation with the Social Sciences Division and the appropriate department for the server you would like access to.
If you are new to the University and you have not yet obtained your University e-mail account you can do so by visiting the NSIT accounts page at http://cnet.uchicago.edu/.

When your account is first created your username and password are the same as your CNet username and password.

We simply copy the encrypted information from the University's user database. Your password is never visible in plain text at any time in this process.
-

Password information is not synced between SSCS and NSIT beyond account creation. If you decide to change your password on an SSCS server it will not effect your CNet password, and vice versa.
If you forgot your password simply connect to https://iota.uchicago.edu/, enter your CNet ID and password. You will be notified when your password is reset (usually within one business day).
