Desktop Support Group:
This group consists of five full-time staff members assigned
to specific departments. They provide support for the desktop
computing needs of faculty and staff and also maintain
departmental computing labs. In addition, there are seven
part-time staff members who either are assigned specific areas
of responsibility or may assist in performing larger
Division-wide scheduled computer support tasks at the request
and direction of the staff dedicated to specific departments.
Administrative Support Group:
One full-time staff member and two part-time staff members fill
this role. This group supports the Division's Local Business Center which performs the procurement, grants and contracts, and payroll functions for the division.
Server Support Group:
This group consists of a team of six full-time staff members
who design and administer the Divisions many multi-user
server computers and assist the users of these computers.
Most individual members of this group are assigned to assist
principally a single department but may also assist their
colleagues in Division-wide tasks and projects at the request
of the Director of Social Sciences Computing.
Geographical Information Systems:
This group consists of a single full-time employee who assists
Divisional faculty and staff in the use of GIS technologies
for research purposes.
Data Archive Group:
This group consists of one full-time and two half-time staff
members to provide assistance for researchers to explore important issues in social sciences research.
