For most users solving this issue requires simply deleting and re-adding your UChicago email account on your mobile device. Instructions are given below.
First, identify your mobile email app and mobile operating system and determine whether the combination meets the minimum software requirements for Modern Authentication shown in the table below.
Device Type | Operating System Version | Email Application |
iOS (iPhone, iPad) | 11.3.1 or later | Apple Mail Outlook for iOS |
Android | 8.0 or later | Most bundled email apps Outlook for Android |
If your mobile OS/app combo supports modern authentication, delete your email account and re-add it to the app. This time when you add the account, you will do a 2 Factor Shibboleth/Duo login.
If your mobile OS/app combo does not support modern authentication, see if the OS will run the Outlook mobile client and get it from either the Apple App Store or Google Play.
The Apple Mail app on iOS 11.3.1 or later supports modern authentication. The bundled mail app on Android 8 or later supports modern authentication. In these cases, delete the account from mail, re-add it and do a 2FA Duo login.
