On January 31, several major email carriers, including Google and Yahoo, implemented new rules designed to reduce spam and phishing attacks. Consequently, cloud email service providers, including the Qualtrics survey platform, are no longer able to send emails with “from” addresses that are outside their actual domains.
You need to take action in your Qualtrics account, if you are sending emails from Qualtrics and sending from a uchicago.edu domain.
All email distributions using non-Qualtrics FROM domains will fail beginning February 1, 2024.
The practical consequence of this change is that it will no longer be possible to distribute surveys within the Qualtrics platform using uchicago.edu emails as the “from” address. The Qualtrics platform will not allow a uchicago.edu address to be entered in the “from” field of email distributions and will show an invalid domain error if this is attempted.
Reply options are not affected by the change, and the “reply-to” can be any uchicago.edu address.
Solution
Use a Qualtrics domain in the Qualtrics Compose Email. You can change the ‘From Name’ to anything you would like or leave with the default no-reply. The available Qualtrics domains are listed:
@qemailserver.com
@qualtrics-survey.com
@qualtrics-research.com
